Chengdu, China, Sept. 03, 2019 -- China Mobile in Sichuan province and Huawei today launched a multi-dimensional 5G network in Chengdu, aimed at transforming the city into one of the world’s foremost hi-tech cities. The announcement was made during Huawei’s fifth annual Asia Pacific Innovation Day held in Chengdu.

Vodafone Limited (“Vodafone”) and O2 Telefónica UK Limited (“O2”) today announced that they have agreed to share 5G active equipment, such as radio antennas, on joint network sites across the UK. This means more people will get 5G sooner, helping to build a competitive digital economy and encouraging innovative new services that use 5G’s speed and greater reliability.

The auction for 2 GHz and 3.6 GHz mobile spectrum has come to an end in Mainz after 52 days and 497 rounds of bidding.

Vodafone Germany has acquired important radio spectrum for next-generation 5G mobile networks at the Federal Network Agency auction for a total cost of €1.88 billion.  It has secured a valuable 90 MHz in the 3.6 GHz band and 40 MHz of 2100 MHz spectrum.

KT Corporation (KT) and Samsung Electronics today announced that they have successfully achieved 1 Gbps speed over the air using KT’s 5G commercial network deployed in Seoul, which has been providing 5G mobility commercial service from December 1, 2018, in collaboration with Samsung’s Networks Business unit.

Through this action, Huawei seeks a declaratory judgment that the restrictions targeting Huawei are unconstitutional, and a permanent injunction against these restrictions.

Vodafone will launch 5G in 19 towns and cities across the UK during 2019.

The completion of the 5G frequency auction on 7th March 2019 – and the usage rights acquired – equip T-Mobile Austria with the foundation to expand the 5G communications standard throughout Austria. The mobile operator also revealed there will be 10 further collaborative 5G projects in Norway – and that soon, the next major city to get 5G will be named.

Saudi Telecom Company (STC) and Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) have signed a deal to launch a mid-band 5G network in Saudi Arabia. The deal was announced at a signing ceremony at Mobile World Congress 2019 in Barcelona.

Telenor Group and Nokia will test 5G capabilities in both the Radio Access Network (RAN) and the mobile core network in Denmark.

Nokia will deploy AirScale base stations for piloting 5G in Telenor Denmark’s commercial radio access network and will also test new functions in the cloud-core network as part of the 5G pilot.

Denmark will soon have its first life test of 5G - this is done with equipment from Nokia on Telenor's and Telia's common mobile network. Both Telenor and Telia have previously tested the mobile technology of the future and with the establishment of the new life test, the two telecom groups will be front runners compared to 5G here in Denmark.
