At the TIM laboratories based in Turin, the first OTA (Over the Air) connection trials compliant with the 3GPP 5G NR (New Radio) Release 15 specifications featuring Ericsson’s technology, using the Massive MIMO solution, were completed.

Ericsson upgrades part of the COSMOTE LTE network with software that supports NB-IoT technology, enabling massive IoT use cases.

Grameenphone today announced the launch of 4G service in selected areas of Dhaka city and Chittagong, marking the beginning of its nationwide rollout of 4G services.

Dhaka, 19 February, 2018: Banglalink, one of the leading digital communication service providers in Bangladesh, has opened up a new era of Digital Connectivity by launching 4G today. After securing the 4G license from the regulatory authorities at an event held at Dhaka Club, Banglalink has officially launched the service.

The telecom regulator yesterday gave Robi the go-ahead for tech neutrality as the country's first mobile operator in 900 MHz and 1800 MHz bands, as part of plans to boost telecom service quality.

BTRC expects to earn over $100 million by offering tech neutrality to the operators, except for Teletalk and Citycell, said Shahjahan Mahmood, chairman of BTRC.

The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission has decided to be liberal with the mobile phone operators and declare all of the five applicants eligible for the fourth generation licences.

A team of the commission has already evaluated the applications for the licence and spectrum auction, said Md Jahurul Haque, legal and licencing commissioner of the BTRC.
