Vodacom’s first commercially available Narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT) network is now operational in Gauteng. Vodacom is the first South African and one of the first African mobile network operators to announce the commercial availability of its NB-IoT network.

This decision by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MINPOSTEL) is motivated by the fact that Northwave Sarl has renounced its status as licensed telecommunications operator by surrendering its entire capital to Afrimax.

Progresif Cellular announced today that they have submitted an official request to start a trial of their 4G network.

The application was filed with the Authority for Info-Communications Technology Industry (AITI) which kicks off a process, that subject to AITI approval, could bring Progresif’s first 4G cell sites online within the next three months.
