Company Overview
Vodafone Ukraine is the second largest mobile network operating in Ukraine. The company was initially launched in 1992 and operated as Ukrainian Mobile Communications (UMC) until its acquisition by MTS in 2003 and the company rebranded as MTS Ukraine in 2007. The company was rebranded again in 2015 when Vodafone and MTS expanded their strategic partnership and relaunching the brand as "Vodafone Ukraine". The company remains a wholly owned subsidiary of Mobile TeleSystems PJSC (“MTS” - NYSE:MBT; MOEX:MTSS), a leading telecommunications group in Russia, Central and Eastern Europe.
The company has provided 2G GSM services over 900 and 1800 MHz since 1997, and 3G UMTS services over the B1 (2100 MHz) band since April 2015 (despite rollout beginning 2007). DC-HSPA+ was deployed September 2015.
4G LTE was launched in April 2018 over the B7 (2600 MHz) band, with B3 (1800 MHz) coming online in July 2018.
Vodafone Ukraine IoT
Vodafone Ukraine finalised construction of its NB-IoT network in April 2019, after deployment plans were publicly announced in December 2018. The network is speculated to use B3 (1800 MHz) like other operators in Ukraine, although remains unconfirmed.
