Tattelecom, Rostelecom, Megafon to begin testing of 5G in Tatarstan

Tatarstan in March of this year will begin testing mobile communication of 5G in Innopolis, and also in Kazan. This was reported by the agency "Tatar-Inform" with reference to the Minister of Informatization and Communications of the Republic of Roman Shaikhutdinov.

"As early as March of this year, we are launching testing within the framework of an agreement between the Ministry of Informatization and Telecommunications of Tatarstan and telecom operators Rostelecom and Tattelecom on the territory of Innopolis and the communications operator Megafon in the territory of Kazan," quotes the Prime Minister, .

According to him, in 2018 construction of infrastructure supports in Kazan will begin. In Tatarstan, there are 6.5 million mobile subscribers. More than 14 thousand base stations are in operation on the territory of the republic, 1 thousand 428 of which are put into operation in 2017.

Recall that Rostelecom, Tattelecom, Huawei and the Ministry of Informatization and Communications of Tatarstan signed a cooperation agreement in November 2017, according to which, in particular, it is planned to create an experimental 5G network in Innopolis. The unfolded coverage of 5G is supposed to cover the university and the technopark on the territory of Innopolis.

Creation of the pilot zone may include the supply of equipment and the execution of design and survey, installation and commissioning works. In addition, an important task of the pilot zone is to research the market for demanded services in 5G networks, demonstrate commercial opportunities and find effective business solutions.
