Overview

Cape Verde or Cabo Verde, officially the Republic of Cabo Verde,is an island country spanning an archipelago of 10 volcanic islands in the central Atlantic Ocean.

Cape Verde is a member of the ITU and as such follows radio frequency harmonisation principles according to ITU-R Region-1. The regulatory body governing communications policy is the Ministério da Economia e Emprego, and the Agência Nacional das Comunicações (ANAC) is charged with regulating the country's radio frequency spectrum activities such as planning, allocations, and licencing.

In 2015 ANAC approached mobile carriers requesting comment regarding the provision of 4G LTE services, to which it was determined that LTE would be best provided over the 800 or 1800 MHz bands, with a strong preference for 800 MHz, such as B20 (800 MHz) FDD-LTE.
