Overview

Cambodia (កម្ពុជា), officially known as the Kingdom of Cambodia, is a country located in the southern portion of the Indochina Peninsula in Southeast Asia.

The country has a well developed telecommunications industry and a highly competitive mobile market leading to very high adoption rate and extremely low cost mobile internet access. Cambodia has an extensive national fibre optic network, primarily deployed by Viettel, a Chinese consortium, and Telecom Cambodia. Further development continues with regulator TRC aiming for 100% urban and 70% rural broadband coverage by 2020. Mobile networks are very well developed, lead by strong demand. According to latest ITU data (June 2017) 3G mobile coverage reaches 80% of the population, with 4G coverage at 50% and rapidly increasing.

Cambodia is a member of the ITU and as such follows radio frequency harmonisation principles according to ITU-R Region-3. The regulatory body governing communications policy is the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of Cambodia (MPTC), and the Telecommunication Regulator of Cambodia (TRC) is charged with regulating the country's radio frequency spectrum activities such as planning, allocations, and licencing.
