Overview

Bolivia, officially known as the Plurinational State of Bolivia, is a landlocked country located in western-central South America. It is bordered to the north and east by Brazil, to the southeast by Paraguay, to the south by Argentina, to the southwest by Chile, and to the northwest by Peru.

Since 2006 more than 11,000 radio base stations have been deployed allowing a rapid rollout of 3G and 4G LTE technologies. According to latest ITU data (June 2017) 3G mobile coverage reaches 74.5% of the population, and 4G LTE accessible by 60.7% of Bolivians.

Bolivia is a member of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) and as such follows radio frequency harmonisation principles according to ITU-R Region-2. The regulatory body governing communications policy is the Ministerio de Obras Públicas, Servicios y Vivienda, and the Autoridad de Regulación y Fiscalización de Telecomunicaciones y Transportes (ATT) is charged with regulating the country's radio frequency spectrum activities such as planning, allocations, and licencing.
