Overview

Antigua and Barbuda is a sovereign state in the Americas, lying between the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. It consists of two major islands, Antigua and Barbuda, and a number of smaller islands (including Great Bird, Green, Guiana, Long, Maiden and York Islands and further south, the island of Redonda).

According to latest ITU data (June 2017) mobile coverage reaches 99% of the population, and 4G LTE accessible by 100% of citizens. These high penetration rates are attributed to the competitive, free market approach adopted by the country.

Antigua & Barbuda is a member of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) and as such follows radio frequency harmonisation principles according to ITU-R Region-2. The regulatory body governing communications policy is the Ministry of Information, Broadcasting, Telecommunications and Information Technology who is also charged with regulating the country's radio frequency spectrum activities such as planning, allocations, and licencing.
