MTN Irancell, Iran’s second largest mobile operator by subscribers, has commercially launched its 4.5G LTE-Advanced services.
MTN Irancell carried out trials of LTE-Advanced mobile data services in October 2016. MTN Irancell achieved peak download speeds of 1.2 Gbps, and upload speeds of 66 Mbps in LTE-Advanced trial . The trials were conducted using two carriers in the 1800 MHz band.
MCI has also started to market ‘4.5G’; however, there is no information available as to whether they can achieve speeds as close as those made by MTN Irancell.
