Beeline Russia, Huawei achieve 1 Gbps in 4.5G LTE-A Pro Tests

January 10, 2018, Moscow. PJSC VimpelCom (Beeline brand) demonstrated a speed of more than 1 Gbit / s on the radio interface during testing in Moscow. The development of technologies allowing to achieve such speeds lies at the heart of the memorandum of PJSC VimpelCom and Huawei about joint testing and launch of technologies of the 5G standard.

The testing was conducted with the purpose of analyzing the capabilities of the equipment, allowing to reach a speed of more than 1 Gbit / s per subscriber on the existing LTE network. To this end, testing was conducted on Huawei equipment, and implementation of such speeds became possible by aggregating 5 LTE carriers in the frequency spectrum available to VimpelCom. In total, the 55 MHz band was used in five bands: 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz and 2600 MHz using high-order quadrature amplitude modulation (256 QAM) and 4T4R radio module operation mode.

Thanks to the above functions and technologies it was possible to reach the peak speed per subscriber at 1030 Mbit / s. Testing was carried out at the standard base station Huawei DBS3910. As a subscriber device, Huawei's test terminal with aggregation support for up to 5 LTE carriers was used.

Martin Shkop, Executive Vice President, Infrastructure Development, PJSC VimpelCom, said: "Our LTE development strategy for the next generation, 5G, involves testing and implementing technologies that open up new opportunities for our customers to communicate and get better digital services. This testing was conducted with the expectation that in the market already there are devices capable of supporting gigabit speeds.
