Company Overview
Viva is the smallest mobile network operating in the Dominican Republic. The company traces its history back to 1883 as All America Cables & Radio Dominican Republic. In January 2000 the company was sold to US-based Centennial Communications, becoming Centennial Dominicana. Viva began operations in April 2008 after Centennial Dominicana became a subsidiary of US-based Trilogy International Partners. Viva was sold to Telemicro Group (via Satel) in 2015, becoming a locally owned and privately held company.
The company provides 2G GSM services over the 1900 MHz band and a 3G UMTS service over the B2 (1900 MHz) band. Viva launched a B4 (1700 MHz) 4G LTE network mid-2017, and deployed 4X4 MIMO LTE-A in August 2017. Viva acquired a further 2x15 MHz block of AWS spectrum in May 2018.
