Overview

The United Arab Emirates ( دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة‎‎), sometimes simply called the Emirates, is a federal absolute monarchy in Western Asia at the southeast end of the Arabian Peninsula on the Persian Gulf, bordering Oman to the east and Saudi Arabia to the south.

United Arab Emirates is a member of the ITU and as such follows radio frequency harmonisation principles according to ITU-R Region-1. The regulatory body governing communications policy is the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), who is also charged with regulating the country's radio frequency spectrum activities such as planning, allocations, and licencing.

The availability of 5G services in the UAE is one step closer to reality as du, from Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (EITC), today announced its full readiness and ongoing network evolution to offer 5G network during the course of 2018.  This is ahead of the anticipated commercial rollout of the 3GPP compliant 5G terminals in 2019.
