Overview

South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands (SGSSI) is a British overseas territory in the southern Atlantic Ocean. It is a remote and inhospitable collection of islands, consisting of South Georgia and a chain of smaller islands known as the South Sandwich Islands.

As a British Overseas Territory South Georgia & South Sandwich Islands is administered by the UK, who are a member of the ITU. The territory follows radio frequency harmonisation principles according to ITU-R Region-2. The regulatory body governing communications policy is the UK Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), and the Office of Communications - Ofcom is charged with regulating the regions's radio frequency spectrum activities such as planning, allocations, and licencing.
