Overview

Puerto Rico, officially the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, is an unincorporated territory of the United States located in the northeast Caribbean Sea. An archipelago among the Greater Antilles, Puerto Rico includes the main island of Puerto Rico and a number of smaller ones, such as Mona, Culebra, and Vieques.

As a territory of the United States, Puerto Rico is not a member of the ITU however follows radio frequency harmonisation principles according to ITU-R Region-2. The regulatory body governing communications policy is the US International Communications and Information Policy (CIP), and the Junta Reglamentadora de Telecomunicaciones de Puero Rico is charged with regulating the territory's radio frequency spectrum activities such as planning, allocations, and licencing.
