Overview
Portugal, officially the Portuguese Republic, is a sovereign state located on the Iberian Peninsula in southwestern Europe. It is the westernmost country of mainland Europe, being bordered to the west and south by the Atlantic Ocean and to the north and east by Spain. Portugal also comprises the archipelagos of Madeira and the Azores.
Portugal is a member of the ITU and as such follows radio frequency harmonisation principles according to ITU-R Region-1. The regulatory body governing communications policy is the Ministry of Planning and Infrastructure, and the Autoridade Nacional de Comunicações (ANACOM) is charged with regulating the country's radio frequency spectrum activities such as planning, allocations, and licencing.
