Overview

Niue (Niuē) is an island country in the South Pacific Ocean approximately 2,400 kilometres northeast of New Zealand, east of Tonga, south of Samoa, and west of the Cook Islands. Niue is a self-governing state in free association with New Zealand; and New Zealand conducts most diplomatic relations on its behalf.

Due to its special status Niue is not a member of the ITU. Following the New Zealand government, Niue abides by radio frequency harmonisation principles according to ITU-R Region-3. The regulatory body governing communications policy is the Niue Telecommunication & Post, who is also charged with regulating the country's radio frequency spectrum activities such as planning, allocations, and licencing.
