Overview

Israel (יִשְׂרָאֵל‎), officially the State of Israel, is a country in the Middle East on the southeastern shore of the Mediterranean Sea and the northern shore of the Red Sea. It has land borders with Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, the Palestinian territories, and Egypt. The country also occupies the disputed territories of Golan Heights and East Jerusalem, with partial occupation of West Bank.

Mobile broadband penetration is increasing, and above the regional average. Mobile Network Operators continue to invest in 3G and 4G LTE networks with, according to latest ITU data (June 2017) 3G population coverage is almost complete at 99%. 4G coverage is not far behind with 70% of Israelis having access to LTE services.

Regulatory Environment

Israel is a member of the ITU and as such follows radio frequency harmonisation principles according to ITU-R Region-1. The regulatory body governing communications policy is the Ministry of Communications, who are also charged with regulating the country's radio frequency spectrum activities such as planning, allocations, and licencing.

Israel 5G

Israel plans to conduct a 5G auction in the first half of 2019. It is expected to include spectrum in the 700 MHz FDD band (25 MHz), 2600 FDD band (60 MHz) and 3500 to 3800 TDD band (300 MHz).
