Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) has partnered with Iraq’s leading internet and communications provider, Tishknet, to deploy the first LTE TDD network in the country. The agreement includes the latest LTE technology with the Ericsson RBS 6000 family of base stations. Also included is Ericsson’s Evolved Packet Core network, with Evolved Packet Gateway on the SSR 8000 family of Smart Services Routers.

The government of Bolivia has assigned spectrum for the provision of LTE services to state-run telco Entel and Tigo. According to a document from telecoms watchdog ATT, the government awarded two blocs of spectrum in the 700 MHz band.

In late February, as Convergencialatina informed, the country surrendered 1900 MHz spectrum for mobile services, a fact that surprised the market due to the long wait of operators (since 1999 there was no tender in the country) and compliance -not everyone expected – of at least one part of the frequency allocation schedule.

Vivo is contemplating the use of its dormant 450MHz spectrum to deliver affordable mobile broadband services in rural and underserved areas of the country.

Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) is set to expand its presence in the Brazilian market after being chosen by Oi to provide a 4G/LTE network, which will feature Ericsson’s latest RBS 6000 multi-standard radio base stations. Under the terms of the agreement, Ericsson is also responsible for network implementation, including network rollout, design and support services.
