Company Overview

Ufone (یوفون‬) is a mobile network operating in Pakistan. The company began operations in January 2001 as Pak Telecom Mobile Limited (PTML) a wholly owned subsidiary of state-owned Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL). With PTCL's privatisation in 2006, the company was acquired by Etisalat.

The company provides 2G GSM services over 900 and 1800 MHz, and in May 2014 launched 3G UMTS (HSPA+) services over the B1 (2100 MHz). Unable to secure additional 2100 MHz spectrum Ufone refarmed a 5 MHz block of its 7.6 MHz wide 900 MHz spectrum to launch a B8 (900 MHz) 3G service in December 2016 allowing it to improve coverage, capacity, and service quality for its customers.

In February 2019 Ufone announced that it had used its existing GSM licences to launch B3 (1800 MHz) 4G LTE using a 5 MHz carrier.
