MTC, short for Mobile Telecommunications Company, is a prominent telecommunications provider in Namibia. The company was founded in 1994 as a joint venture between the Namibian government, Namibia Post and Telecommunications Holdings (NPTH), and Telia Overseas AB and Swedfund International AB. During May 2004, the government reclaimed 100% of the shares in MTC by acquiring the 49% held by Telia and Swedfund. During 2006 the sale of 34% of MTC shares to Portugal Telecom was concluded for N$1.34 billion while the Namibian government retains the remainder of the stake through NPTH. The network was re-nationalised in March 2018 with the government buying the outstanding 34% stake.

MTC's ownership structure is split between Namibia Post and Telecom Holdings Limited, which holds a majority stake of 51%, and the Government Institutions Pension Fund (GIPF), which owns the remaining 49%.
