Free Mobile is a telecommunications network provider based in France. Established in 2009 by Iliad SA, a French telecommunications company, it is the fourth largest mobile network operator in the country. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Iliad SA, with Xavier Niel, the founder of Iliad, being the principal stakeholder.

    4G Network

    After securing a 4G operating licence Free launched 4G LTE services in December 2013 over the B7 (2600 MHz) band. Services were extended further after acquiring a B3 (1800 MHz) licence in November 2014, and channel widths widened further in May 2016. B28 (700 MHz) became active in 2017 after securing digital dividend spectrum in November 2015. B1 (2100 MHz) was added in August 2021.

      5G Network

      The company launched a dual-band 5G network in December 2020 using mid-band n78 (3500 MHz) and an LTE-DSS n28 (700 MHz) as the low-band carrier.
