Company Overview

Free Mobile is a telecommunications provider and mobile network operator servicing France, Guadeloupe, and Martinique. The company was founded in July 2007 by French billionaire Xavier Niel as a subsidiary (SAS) under the Iliad SA.

The company has provided 3G UMTS services over B1 (2100 MHz) and B8 (900 MHz) since January 2012. After securing a 4G operating licence Free launched 4G LTE services in December 2013 over the B7 (2600 MHz) band. Services were extended further after acquiring a B3 (1800 MHz) licence in November 2014, and channel widths widened further in May 2016. B28 (700 MHz) became active in 2017 after securing digital dividend spectrum in November 2015.

B20 (800 MHz) LTE is available in Guadeloupe and Martinique.
