4G LTE Frequency Bands
Jamii Telecommunications Limited (“JTL”) is a Kenyan company licensed by the Communications Commission of Kenya as a Telecommunications Operator under the Unified Licensing Framework. JTL offers data communications services to telecommunications operators, corporate, Media Houses and Government in East Africa using Terrestrial fiber optic cable, Satellite and Broadband wireless networks (Wimax). The company provides 4G LTE services under the Faiba brand.
JTL has deployed Next Generation Metro Fiber Networks in Mombasa, Voi, Nairobi, Thika, Nyeri, Naivasha, Nakuru, Eldoret, Kitale, Kericho, Kisumu, Kisii, Kakamega, Busia, Bungoma and Malaba based on DWDM/SDH with a backbone capacity of 400 Gbps. JTL has also built a National Backbone connecting all the Major Towns in Kenya (Metro Fiber Networks) and the borders to Tanzania and Uganda.
Faiba's 4G LTE network uses B28 (700 MHz) following a controversial award process where JTL received the lucrative 700 MHz spectrum licence outside of an ordinary auction process. The network provides data rates up to 72 Mbps (10 MHz carrier).
