Company Overview

BTC (Bahamas Telecommunication Company) is the primary telecommunications provider for the Bahamas, headquartered in Nassau, New Providence. The company is partly government owned and offers telephone, internet, mobile and wireless services.

BTC operates a 2G GSM network on 850 and 1900 MHz, and launched its 3G service on B5 (850 MHz) in 2006. Planning began on the country's first 4G network in 2011 and was finally activated in February 2014 on the B17 (700 MHz) LTE band commonly in use by providers in the United States. B4 (1700 MHz) AWS LTE was later launched after securing additional spectrum in late 2014.
