Unitel LLC trading as Beeline is one of Uzbekistan's largest mobile carriers. Unitel was founded in 1996 and began operations in September 1997. In February 2006 Unitel became a majority owned subsidiary and member of the VEON group of companies (previously known as Vimpelcom), and subsequently rebranded as Beeline. VEON is one of the world's largest integrated telecom operators, which includes communications companies that provide voice and data services based on a wide range of wireless and fixed-line technologies, as well as broadband Internet access in Russia, Italy, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Armenia, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Algeria, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Zimbabwe.
Beeline Uzbekistan operates standard 2G GSM services over 900 and 1800 MHz, and launched 3G UMTS services over B1 (2100 MHz) band in 2008. Beeline introduced the first 4G LTE services in the country in September 2014 over the B5 (850 MHz) and B18 (850 MHz) bands in partnership with ZTE.
