Airtel Malawi is a telecommunications company operating in Malawi. The company began operations in 2007 as Celtel, quickly becoming branded as Zain in August 2008, following Celtel International's acquisition by Zain Group. The company is a subsidiary of Bharti Airtel Limited, an Indian multinational telecommunications services company based in New Delhi. Airtel Malawi was established as part of Bharti Airtel's expansion into Africa, which saw the parent company acquire the African operations of Zain Telecom in June 2010. This acquisition made Bharti Airtel the world's fifth largest wireless carrier by subscriber base.

Airtel Malawi 3G Network

2G GSM services have been provided over 900 and 1800 MHz bands since October 1999, and 3G UMTS over B1 (2100 MHz) since September 2010. A "3.75G" HSPA+ network was launched by Airtel Malawi in July 2012. The company added B8 (900 MHz) 3G UMTS in February 2017 as part of its nationwide network upgrade.
