Overview

Kosovo (Kosova) is a disputed territory and partially recognised state in Southeastern Europe that declared independence from Serbia in February 2008 as the Republic of Kosovo. Kosovo is landlocked in the central Balkan Peninsula, and is bordered by Albania to the southwest, the Republic of Macedonia to the southeast, Montenegro to the west and the uncontested territory of Serbia to the north and east.

Due to its partially recognised status, Kosovo is not a member of the ITU. The region voluntarily follows radio frequency harmonisation principles according to ITU-R Region-1. The regulatory body governing communications policy is the Post and Telecommunication of Kosovo (PTK), and the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA) is charged with regulating the region's radio frequency spectrum activities such as planning, allocations, and licencing.
