Company Overview
Telefonia Mobile Sammarinese (TMS) (San Marino Telecom) is the sole telecommunications service provider operating in San Marino, following the exit of Prima in 2016. The company has been operational since 1999 and is a joint venture 51% owned by Telecom Italia Group, and 49% state owned.
TMS has provided 2G GSM services over 900 and 1800 MHz since inception, and 3G UMTS services over B1 (2100 MHz). As the network uses Telecom Italia infrastructure, 4G LTE services are provided over B3 (1800 MHz), B7 (2600 MHz), and B20 (800 MHz). TIM announced that it would upgrade its San Marino network to LTE-A Pro in July 2017, implementing 4X4 MIMO, 256QAM, and 3C CA technologies.
TMS / TIM San Marino 5G
TMS became the first operator to achieve full nationwide 5G coverage (99% by population) in December 2018. The network, supplied by Nokia, uses n78 (3500 MHz) and n258 (26 GHz) 5G bands.
