Touch to install 4.5G LTE-A network throughout Lebanon

Marking a milestone in Lebanon’s Telecommunications sector, Touch, as managed by leading telecom innovator Zain Group, will be installing a 4.5G Advanced network to be deployed throughout Lebanon.

In partnership with Huawei and Nokia, the initialisation of the technology is set to be in September 2016, with 1415 sites to be installed, promising coverage that will span 99.8% of the country.

The upgrade will set the foundation for acquiring 5G in the nearer future. As a step up from the dual carrier speed of 300 Mbps currently enjoyed on a nationwide scale, touch will put into effect 3 carrier aggregation and 4X4 MIMO antenna technology in urban areas, bringing into effect a speed capacity ranging between 450 and 600 Mbps. The installation of the technology is also expected to be expedited, and will focus on coverage and capacity so that every enclave of the country will soon enjoy unaltered access to LTE.
