Juba, March 20, 2018 (SSNA) — South Sudan communication authority has suspended operations of Vivacell, citing noncompliance with regulations. The regulator said it acts on the directives of the ministry of information and other relevant bodies.
“The National Communication Authority would like to inform the public that the operations of Vivacell Network Operator [have] been suspended, effective from 20th March 2018, due to the directives of the Minister of Information, Communication Technology and Postal Services,” a statement obtained by the South Sudan News Agency(SSNA) reads in part.
In the text, the government disclosed it has already suspected Vivacell’s international traffic and gives the mobile operator one week to suspend all its domestic operations.
The suspension of Vivacell came less than two weeks after South Sudan’s Media Authority suspended a UN-run station, Radio Miraya, accusing it of “persistent noncompliance.”
