Algar Telecom combined the 700 MHz and 1800 MHz bands to activate LTE-A in Uberlândia, city of Minas Gerais. The company promised speeds three times higher than those offered with traditional 4G although it recognized that the real speed will depend on factors such as the proximity of the antennas and the number of people connected to the same site, among others.

The DNA 4G network has possessed regional readiness since spring 2017. In spring 2017, the NB-IoT underwent a pilot experiment in the Tampere region DNA 4G network. In the experiment, sensors by the Talotohtori cloud service provider Enermix were connected to a service that measured indoor air conditions in a retail store.

During the autumn, 1 Gbit/s mobile broadband connections have been under construction in the centre of Tampere and around Elisa Kulma shop in Helsinki. Network users can immediately benefit from the additional capacity of the base stations, and at the same time, this is yet another step towards 5G.

EE, the UK’s largest mobile network operator and part of the BT Group, is upgrading more sites by converting 2G airwaves into superfast 4G speeds to drive the fastest mobile data speeds and most reliable voice service from the latest smartphones. The move furthers EE’s position as the number one network for smartphones in the UK.

SANTIAGO, June 29, 2017.- Nokia and Movistar Chile today held the first demonstration of 4.5G Pro in Latin America, reaching a speed of 1Gbps.

The new maximum speed is tested in collaboration with Ericsson in Karuby, Siuntio, the fastest 4G village in Finland, where the theoretical maximum network speed has now reached one gigabyte per second (1 Gbps). The theoretical maximum speed is also important because it reveals the base station’s total capacity and enables higher actual average speeds for mobile network users.

[Brasilia, Brazil, June 26, 2017] Recently, Claro Brazil launched the commercial 4.5G (4x4 MIMO+ Massive CA+256QAM) network in Brasilia in partnership with Huawei. The 4.5G network is the first network intended for commercial use in Brazil, and is expected to be the largest in the Latin America Region.

Vodafone UK has selected Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) to evolve its 4G networks in London and southern England using technologies such as Massive MIMO and Carrier Aggregation, which will help deliver improved capacity and end-user performance.

DNA has taken another step toward 5G by testing a 1Gbps speed on its mobile network. At the same time, DNA ensures maximum speeds for all network users by continuing to increase the capacity of its national 4G mobile network.

Brazilian operator Algar Telecom completed the refarming of the band from 1800 MHz to 4G, an idea that had been formalized by the end of 2015 . The 10 MHz previously saved for 2G were compressed at 5 MHz and the other half was used for LTE.

WND, the Latin American operator of Sigfox technology, begins the commercial operation of its IoT network in free frequency in August, with coverage of 50% of the population.

Tests have shown that the new NB-IoT (Narrow Band Internet of Things) technology makes it possible to connect an increasingly broad range of devices to the Internet. This means that broader selection of sensors and devices can be connected in the Internet in increasingly challenging locations to facilitate, for example, the monitoring of humidity and air quality in buildings.
