COTONOU, Dec 19 (Reuters) - Benin’s telecommunications regulator has withdrawn the operating licence of Nigerian mobile telecoms company Globacom’s local unit in a dispute over new terms, according to a document seen on Tuesday.

MTN, Africa's biggest telecommunications company, gained more than 3 per cent on the JSE on Friday, despite the government of Benin expelling MTN Benin chief executive Stephen Blewett.

Progresif Cellular announced today that they have submitted an official request to start a trial of their 4G network.

The application was filed with the Authority for Info-Communications Technology Industry (AITI) which kicks off a process, that subject to AITI approval, could bring Progresif’s first 4G cell sites online within the next three months.
