Company Overview

Unitel is the second largest mobile carrier operating in Mongolia. The company was formed by a group of Mongolian and Korean ICT companies, and began operations in June 2006. In November 2010 Unitel declared that it has become 100% locally owned company following a buyout of Korean shareholders.

Unitel operates standard 2G GSM services over 900 MHz, and launched 3G UMTS services over B1 (2100 MHz) band in December 2008. The company launched 4G LTE services in April 2016 over 15 MHz in the B3 (1800 MHz) band, and commercially launched B28 (700 MHz) in November 2016.

LTE-A was launched in January 2017, with Unitel offering its Ger Internet WTTx solution over 40 MHz of B40 (2300 MHz), extending mobile broadband into 363 regional areas in Mongolia.
