Overview

Tunisie Telecom is the incumbent telecommunications operator in Tunisia. The state-owned company began operations 1995, and activated its first mobile services in March 1998. Tunisie Telecom was transformed into a public company in April 2004, with 35% ownership sold to Emirati TeCom-DIG in 2006.

The company has provided 2G GSM services over 900 and 1800 MHz, and began 3G UMTS over B1 (2100 MHz) in August 2011. 4G LTE was launched in March 2016 over the B3 (1800 MHz) and B20 (800 MHz) bands, advertising peak data rates of 150 Mbps.

In May 2018 TT in partnership with Huawei tested 4X4 MIMO and 256QAM LTE-A Pro technologies, along with 3C aggregation and demonstrated peak data rates in excess of 700 Mbps.
