Company Overview
PrimeTel is a mobile network operator and telecommunications service provider operating in Cyprus. The privately owned company began operations in 2003, and has provided mobile services as a MVNO since 2011. PrimeTel was granted the republic's third mobile carrier licence in January 2014, launching its own mobile network in February 2015.
The company provides 2G GSM services over 900 and 1800 MHz, and 3G UMTS services over B1 (2100 MHz) and B8 (900 MHz). In March 2015 PrimeTel launched 4G LTE over B3 (1800 MHz) using a 10 MHz channel.
PrimeTel 5G
PrimeTel was awarded a 5G testing licence by the Cypriot Department of Electronic Communications in April 2019, which permitted the company to test networks over the 3400 to 3800 MHz band (n78) until November 2019. No 5G plans have been announced by PrimeTel.
