Company Overview

Nextel is a Brazilian mobile carrier, originally based on iDEN radio technology. The company is a fully owned subsidiary of NASDAQ-listed NII Holdings, Inc. which provides a range of telecommunications services through subsidiaries across Latin America.

Aside from iDEN mobile radio services, the company operates a B1 (2100 MHz) 3G service with a roaming agreement in place with Vivo when coverage is unavailable. Nextel launched 4G LTE services over B3 (1800 MHz) in January 2017, with the Huawei-built network reportedly using 4X4 MIMO, and capable of delivering download speeds of up to 225 Mbps.
