Company Overview

Net1 is a mobile broadband service provider operating nationally throughout Indonesia. Since December 2015, STI partnered with Net1 (previously known as ice group (AINMT International Holdings BV)), a Scandinavian network giant, to expand and improve STI’s wireless network. It has a perpetual license for 2 x 7.5 MHz in the 450 MHz band, which constitutes 15 percent market share of spectrum below 1 GHz. STI has been operating in Indonesia since 1986 under the brands Neon and Cheerful.

The company launched its 4G LTE service in September 2016 using B31 (450 MHz). 2G services were deactivated in 2017.

In explaining the company's choice of LTE carrier, "The 450 MHz BTS can reach more than 100 km, making it very suitable for a nation with geographically spread regions and population. That’s why Net1 Indonesia specifically choose this technology, as it enables Net1 Indonesia to focus on providing 4G LTE service in rural and suburban areas. With this latest technology, Net1 Indonesia believes it will be able to provide 4G LTE-450MHz network access to 260 million Indonesian who lives in more than 14.000 islands."

Net1 Indonesia suspended all network service as of midnight 30 November 2021 due to unpaid frequency fees.
