MobiFone Corporation, also known as Tổng công ty Viễn Thông MobiFone in Vietnamese, is a key player in Vietnam's telecommunications sector. The company, which operates a mobile network, has its headquarters located in Trung Hoa Nhan Chinh, Hanoi. MobiFone's journey began on 16 April 1993 when it was established as a Global System for Mobile Communications launcher. The company holds the distinction of being the first and currently the third largest telecommunications provider in the nation.
The corporation's ownership has seen changes over the years. In 2005, the State of Vietnam and Ministry of Posts and Telematics, now known as the Ministry of Information and Communications, decided to sell equity. This followed the liquidation of the business cooperation contract with Kinnevik/Comvik, a Swedish entity. MobiFone became a corporation under the Ministry of Information and Communications in 2015.
