Company Overview

MobiCom Corporation (Мобиком Корпораци) is the largest mobile carrier operating in Mongolia. The company was established as a joint Mongolian-Japanese venture in March 1996, to be the first Mongolian cell phone service. It was founded by Mongolian Newcom Group, and Japanese KDDI.

Mobicom operates standard 2G GSM services over 900 MHz, and launched 3G UMTS services over B1 (2100 MHz) band in 2009. DC-HSPA+ services were reportedly activated. 4G LTE services were launched in May 2016 over B3 (1800 MHz) and expanded using B28 (700 MHz) after licences were granted later in 2016.

4G LTE-A was announced in November 2017, using 2C carrier aggregation of B3 and B28 to provide peak DL data rates of up to 225 Mbps.
