MetFone is a major telecommunications company operating in Cambodia. It was established in 2009 by the Vietnamese military-owned telecommunications company, Viettel. Despite being a subsidiary, MetFone has established its own footprint in the Cambodian market, becoming one of the leading mobile and internet service providers in the country. The company is fully owned by Viettel, which is in turn owned and operated by the Ministry of Defence of Vietnam.

3G Network

The company began operations in February 2009 initially providing 2G GSM services over 900 and 1800 MHz, and switched on 3G UMTS in January 2010 over B1 (2100 MHz).

    4G Network

    Metfone launched commercial 4G LTE services over 10 MHz of the B3 (1800 MHz) band in June 2016. 4G LTE is also provided over a 5 MHz wide B5 (850 MHz), and a 10 MHz channel of B7 (2600 MHz) in some provinces.

    In May 2018 Metfone upgraded its network to LTE-Advanced using CA_3C aggregation to deliver peak data rates up to 100 Mbps.
