Company Overview

Kyivstar, Київстар, is the largest mobile network operating in Ukraine. The company's history started back in 1994, and on December 9, 1997, the first call in Kyivstar mobile network was made. Kyivstar is a part of VEON Ltd., one of the world's largest integrated telecommunications companies, headquartered in Netherlands. The holding company owns telecom assets in the CIS countries, Europe, Asia, and Africa, and its shares are freely traded on the stock exchange (NASDAQ).

Kyivstar is also the largest Ukrainian telecommunication operator providing communications and data services based on a broad range of mobile and fixed-line technologies, including 3G. Company's customer base amounts to over 26 million in mobile and around 820 thousand in broadband Internet.

The company provides 2G GSM services over the 900 and 1800 MHz bands, and 3G UMTS over B1 (2100 MHz) since June 2015. A second 3G UMTS service was launched over B8 (900 MHz) for additional capacity and range. 4G LTE-A was launched in April 2018 over the B7 (2600 MHz) band, with the company advising that it would utilise its 25 MHz holding in the 1800 MHz band to add an additional B3 (1800 MHz) service to operate in 2C CA. Kyivstar announced it had completed rollout of its B3 (1800 MHz) carrier in March 2019.

Kyivstar IoT

Following testing in late 2018 and early 2019, Kyivstar commercially launched NB-IoT services over the B3 (1800 MHz) band in February 2019.
