Company Overview

Fastweb S.p.A. is an Italian telecommunications company that provides landline, broadband Internet and IPTV services. Fastweb is a wholly owned subsidiary of Swiss telecommunication company Swisscom.

In November 2018 Fastweb acquired 4G FWA operator Tiscali, including the rights to its 40 MHz 3.5 GHz spectrum licence.

Fastweb 5G

Fastweb, together with TIM and Huawei is participating in BariMatera5G, the project with which the three companies were jointly awarded the Italian Ministry for Economic Development tender for the trial of new 5G technology in the region’s two main cities. In the wake of the encouraging results recorded during the Milan trial, Fastweb announced in May a new plan of infrastructure deployment with the aim of doubling by 2024 the footprint of its existing ultra-broadband network.

Fastweb's pre-commercial network used 26 GHz mmWave spectrum to provide data rates up to 1 Gbps over distances of 200 to 400 metres.
