Company Overview

Elisa Eesti is the second largest mobile carrier operating in Estonia. The company was founded in 1995 as Radiolinja Eesti by Finnish Elisa Oyj (Finnet Group), rebranding to Elisa in 2014. Elisa Oyj operate subsidiaries in both Estonia and Finland.

The company provides 2G GSM services over 900 and 1800 MHz bands, and launched 3G UMTS over B1 (2100 MHz) in June 2006. To expand coverage in regional areas a B8 (900 MHz) UMTS service was activated in January 2008.

Elisa commercially launched its 4G LTE service in February 2013 over B3 (1800 MHz) and B7 (2600 MHz). The company began its B20 (800 MHz) rollout immediately following securing of additional LTE spectrum in the August 2013 ETSA auction. By end of 2013 the company had reached 97% population coverage. LTE-A trials began June 2014 but it wasn't until July 2017 when Elisa launched LTE-A, advertising a 225 Mbps service using 2C CA of B3 and B7. A 375 Mbps 3C CA network is reportedly under development.

IoT Strategy

Elisa Estonia announced the availability of its NB-IoT network to corporate customers in September 2018.

5G Strategy

The company became one of the first in the world to begin commercial use of 5G NR when in June 2018 it began offering a 5G n78 (3500 MHz) NR network with a 100 MHz channel size, providing data rates in excess of 1.8 Gbps.
