DigiCell (not to be confused with Digicel Group) is the largest mobile communications provider in Belize. Belize Telemedia Group (trading as DigiCell) is a fully government owned entity with a history dating back to 1902.
In 2012 through partnership with Ericsson the company began construction of a nationwide 3G HSPA+ network over B5 (850 MHz) and B2 (1900 MHz) bands, although confusingly marketed as 4G. DigiCell later launched a true 4G LTE network in December 2016 through partnership with Huawei over bands B2 (1900 MHz) and B17 (700 MHz).
