China Mobile (中国移动) is the largest mobile carrier operating in both the People's Republic of China, and the world. The state-owned company, directly controlled by the government, was incorporated in Hong Kong on 3 September 1997. The Company was listed on the New York Stock Exchange ("NYSE") and The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited ("HKEX" or the "Stock Exchange") on 22 October 1997 and 23 October 1997, respectively. The Company was admitted as a constituent stock of the Hang Seng Index in Hong Kong on 27 January 1998.

As the leading telecommunications services provider in Mainland China, the Group provides full communications services in all 31 provinces, autonomous regions and directly-administered municipalities throughout Mainland China and in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and boasts the world's largest mobile network and the world's largest mobile customer base. Its businesses primarily consist of mobile voice and data business, wireline broadband and other information and communications services.

The company provides 2G GSM services throughout all 31 provinces over the 900 and 1800 MHz bands. '3G' services are provided using TD-SCDMA (IMT CDMA TDD) technology and not 3G UMTS. These services are provided over 1900, 2000, and 2300 MHz bands.

4G LTE trials began in September 2011 and commercially launched in December 2013. China Mobile holds 130 MHz of LTE TDD spectrum across B39 (1900 MHz), B40 (2300 MHz), and B41 (2500 MHz). China Mobile conducted carrier aggregation trials in 2014 achieving 220 Mbps downlink. 220 Mbps 2C service began in late 2014 utilising 2 x 20 MHz TDD B41 (2500 MHz) spectrum. Three carrier 3C LTE TDD was successfully demonstrated using 3x 20 MHz B41 spectrum in 2015 achieving over 420 Mbps.

The company trialled LTE-Advanced Pro Massive MIMO technology in B41 TDD spectrum in Shanghai, achieving peak throughputs of 630 Mbps DL and 72 Mbps UL.

China Mobile received a licence to offer mobile services based on FDD-LTE technology in April 2018.
