Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is a government-owned telecommunications company in India, incorporated on 15 September 2000. The company took on the responsibilities of providing telecom services and network management from the Central Government Departments of Telecom Services (DTS) and Telecom Operations (DTO) as of 1 October 2000. BSNL operates under the brand BSNL Mobile, offering wireless cellular services to B2B, B2C, and B2G segments across India. The company's network has a pan-India presence, covering all 22 telecom circles in the country, with roaming access in Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai, and international roaming access to over 300 networks worldwide. BSNL Mobile began as CellOne for GSM mobile services and Excel for postpaid services. The network, including GSM/GPRS, was launched in late 2002. In 2007, the consumer mobility business was rebranded from CellOne to BSNL Mobile. The company was the first to eliminate incoming roaming charges nationwide. It offers both GSM prepaid and postpaid services. BSNL Mobile has been introducing 4G services in some telecom circles and is expected to commence 5G services following the full rollout of its 4G service.
