Advanced Info Service Public Company Limited (AIS) is the largest GSM mobile phone operator in Thailand. The company was established in April 1985, initially as a computer rental business. It transitioned to the telecommunications sector in October 1990, launching analog 900 MHz mobile phone services under a 20-year monopoly concession from the Telephone Organization of Thailand (TOT). AIS was also the first company permitted to operate on the GSM-900 frequency. The company became publicly listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand on 5 November 1991. AIS is currently under the control of Intouch Holdings, which was formerly known as Shin Corporation. Temasek Holdings, an agency owned by the Singapore government, heads Intouch Holdings. As of 23 December 2011, Intouch holds 40.45 percent of AIS's shares, while Singapore Telecommunications, Thai Trust Fund, and OCBC Nominees collectively hold a 23.32 percent stake. The AIS brand was acquired by Temasek in 2006 during the purchase of Shin Corporation from former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

AIS 4G Network

AIS operates a highly sophisticated LTE-A Pro network, which provides 4x4 MIMO and 3C aggregation, and notably through its Next G service aggregated data throughput with its AIS Super WiFi network spanning some 100,000 hotspots. It operates an NB-IoT B8 (900 MHz) and LTE-M network over B3 (1800 MHz).

    AIS 5G Network

    The company launched a 5G network using refarmed 2600 MHz spectrum to deploy an n41 sub-6 GHz 5G NR service in February 2020. AIS added a second 5G carrier in January 2021 using n28 (700 MHz), with the company achieving one of the world's first 5G 2C CA network deployments. mmWave 5G was reportedly launched in November 2021 using n258 (26 GHz) and providing data rates up to 4 Gb/s during trials. With the company holding 1200 MHz of 26 GHz spectrum up to three 400 MHz carriers can be aggregated.
