Overview

Northern Cyprus (Kuzey Kıbrıs / Βόρεια Κύπρος), officially the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, is a self-declared state that comprises the northeastern portion of the island of Cyprus. Recognised only by Turkey, Northern Cyprus is considered by the international community to be part of the Republic of Cyprus, however is listed independently due to the presence of independently operating telecommunications service providers.

Northern Cyprus is not a member of the ITU. The regulatory body governing Northern Cypriot communications policy is the Turkish Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, and the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (ICTA) is charged with regulating the state's radio frequency spectrum activities such as planning, allocations, and licencing.
