Overview

The Åland Islands (Åland / Ahvenanmaa) is an archipelago at the entrance to the Gulf of Bothnia in the Baltic Sea belonging to Finland.

Åland Islands is a not member of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) but falls under the governance of Finland who are. Åland Islands follows radio frequency harmonisation principles according to ITU-R Region-1. The regulatory body governing communications policy is the Ministry of Transport and Communications, and the Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority (FICORA) is charged with regulating the country's radio frequency spectrum activities such as planning, allocations, and licencing.
