Macau, also spelled Macao and officially the Macao Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, is an autonomous region on the western side of the Pearl River estuary in East Asia. Macau is bordered by the city of Zhuhai in Mainland China to the north and the Pearl River Delta to the east and south.

As a special administrative region of China, Macau is not a member of the ITU. The territory follows radio frequency harmonisation principles according to ITU-R Region-3. The regulatory body governing communications policy is the Office for the Development of Telecommunications and Information Technology, and the Bureau of Telecommunications Regulation (DSRT) is charged with regulating the region's radio frequency spectrum activities such as planning, allocations, and licencing.
